2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father all from ibn Mahbub from Ali ibn Ri’ab who has said the following: “Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Whatever afflictions befall you is because of what your hands have obtained,’ (42:29) do you consider whatever befell Ali and his family (a.s.) after him was because of their deeds and acquisition of their hands despite the fact that they were members of the family of al- Taharah (cleansed by the will of Allah), the infallible people?’ The Imam said, ‘The Messenger of Allah would would do tawbah (to return your face) and repent before Allah a hundred times every day and night without any sins. Indeed, Allah chooses his friends, especially, for suffering so He may grant them rewards without sins.’”

Un groupe parmi nos compagnons de Sahl ibn Ziyad et Ali ibn Ibrahim, de leurs pères tous ensemble, d'Ibn Mahbub, d'Ali ibn Ri'ab, a dit : J'ai demandé à Abou Abdillah (sur lui la paix) au sujet de la parole d'Allah, exalté soit-Il : "Et tout malheur qui vous atteint est dû à ce que vos mains ont acquis." As-tu vu ce qui est arrivé à Ali et à sa famille (sur eux la paix) après lui, c'est en raison de ce qu'ont acquis leurs mains, et ils sont les membres de la famille purs, infaillibles. Il a dit : Certes, le Messager d'Allah (que la paix soit sur lui et sur sa famille) se repentait à Allah et L'invoquait pour le pardon cent fois chaque jour et chaque nuit sans commettre de péché. Certes, Allah réserve les épreuves à Ses alliés pour les récompenser sans péché.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated in a marfu’ manner has narrated from Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: “When Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) was taken as a captive to Damascus and was made to stand before Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah, he, (Yazid) may Allah condemn him, read this verse: ‘Whatever affliction befalls you is because of what your hands have obtained,’ (42:30) Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) said, ‘This verse is not about us. What applies to us are the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Whatever hardships you face on earth and in your souls, were written in the Book before the creation of souls. This is certainly easy for Allah.’” (57:22)

Lorsque Ali ibn Al-Hussein (que la paix soit sur lui) fut emmené devant Yazid ibn Muawiya et qu'il fut placé devant lui, Yazid lui dit : "Que Dieu le maudisse, toute calamité qui vous atteint est le résultat de vos propres actions." Ali ibn Al-Hussein (que la paix soit sur eux) répondit : "Cette parole ne nous concerne pas. En nous, il y a la parole de Dieu Tout-Puissant : "Aucun malheur n'atteint sur la terre ni en vous-mêmes, qui ne soit enregistré dans un Livre, avant que Nous ne l'ayons créé. Cela est certes facile pour Dieu." (Sourate Al-Hadid, verset 22).
