1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Sadaqa from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Once al-Najashi (a king of Abyssinia) called to his presence Ja’far ibn abu Talib and his companions. When they came in, they found the king sitting on the ground wearing two old pieces of cloth.’ The Imam said that Ja’far has said, ‘We felt compassion for him in our hearts when we saw him in that condition. When he noticed our feelings from our faces he said, “All praise is due to Allah for his giving victory to Muhammad and delight to his heart. Should I give you good news?” I said, “Yes, O King.” He then said, “This hour my informant people have come from your land and have informed me that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has granted victory to His prophet, Muhammad (a.s.) and has destroyed his enemies. So and so are taken captive when they met each other in a land called Badr, which has a great many bushes of Arak as if I can see it, because I was a shepherd grazing the herd for my master who was from the tribe of Damrah.” Ja’far then said to him, “O king, why do you sit on the ground wearing two pieces of old cloth?” He then said, “O Ja’far, we find in what Allah had revealed to Jesus that of the rights of Allah on his servants is to show humbleness when He does a favor for them. Since Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has done a favor for me by means of granting victory to Muhammad (a.s.) 1 show humility.’” When this was mentioned to the Holy Prophet he said to his companions, ‘Charity increases the wealth of the donor, therefore, give charity. Humbleness elevates the position of a person, therefore, be humble, Allah will raise your degree in meritorious status. Forgiveness increases the respect of a person, therefore, forgive, Allah will grant you respect.’”
Isnādعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَةَ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام)
Le Prophète (que la paix soit sur lui et sa famille) a dit : "L'aumône augmente la richesse de celui qui la donne en abondance, alors donnez l'aumône, que Dieu vous montre de la miséricorde. Et l'humilité élève celui qui en fait preuve, alors soyez humbles, que Dieu vous élève. Et le pardon accorde à celui qui le pratique une dignité, alors pardonnez, que Dieu vous honore."
2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Mu’awiyah ibn ‘Ammar from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “I heard the Imam saying, ‘In heaven there are two angels who guard the servants (of Allah). Whoever is humble before Allah, they raise him up, and whoever is arrogant, they bring him low.’”
Isnād`Alī ibn Ibrāhīm rapporte de son père, de Ibn Abī 'Umayr, de Mu'āwiya ibn 'Ammār, de Abī 'Abdillāh (que la paix soit sur lui) qui a dit : J'ai entendu dire : Certes, il y a dans le ciel deux anges délégués auprès des serviteurs. Celui qui s'humilie pour Allah, ils l'élèvent, et celui qui s'enorgueillit, ils l'abaissent.`
3. Ibn abu ‘Umayr has narrated from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: ‘‘In a Thursday evening the Messenger of Allah had completed his day’s fasting and dinner was served in the Mosque of Quba. He asked, ‘Is there any drink?’ Aws ibn Khuli brought him a bowl of milk mixed with honey. When he touched it with his lips he moved it away saying, ‘There are two drinks each of which is enough drink. I will not drink it and I am not making unlawful to drink it, but I want to be humble before Allah. Whoever is humble before Allah, He raises him up, and whoever is arrogant, Allah brings him low. Whoever economizes in his living Allah grants him sustenance. Whoever is a spendthrift, Allah deprives him. Whoever speaks of death very often, Allah loves him.’”

Le Messager d'Allah (que la prière d'Allah et Son salut soient sur lui) a rompu le jeûne un jeudi soir dans la mosquée de Quba. Il a demandé s'il y avait quelque chose à boire. Aws ibn Khawliyy al-Ansari lui a apporté une boisson composée de dattes et de miel. Après l'avoir posée devant lui, il l'a rejetée. Puis il a dit : "Il y a deux boissons, que l'un de vous prenne l'une d'entre elles. Je ne la boirai pas ni ne l'interdirai, mais je m'humilie devant Allah. Car celui qui s'humilie devant Allah, Allah l'élève. Et celui qui se montre arrogant, Allah l'abaisse. Et celui qui est modéré dans sa subsistance, Allah lui accorde Ses provisions. Et celui qui gaspille, Allah lui interdit Ses bénédictions. Et celui qui se rappelle souvent de la mort, Allah l'aime."
4. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’ alia ibn Muhammad from al- Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ from Dawud al-Hammar from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) a similar Hadith in which he has said the following: ‘‘Whoever speaks of Allah very often, Allah will provide him shadow in His paradise.”

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ibn Faddal from al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I heard abu Ja’far (a.s.) saying, ‘Once an angel came to the Messenger of Allah and said, ‘‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, gives you the choice to be a servant and a humble messenger, or to be an angel and a messenger.” He looked to Jibril who made a gesture with his hand to be humble. He (the Messenger of Allah) said, “I want to be a humble servant and a messenger.” The messenger (the angel) said, “Despite this, there is no reduction in what is with your Lord.” The Imam said, “With him were the keys to the treasures of earth.’””
IsnādUn groupe de nos compagnons de la part d'Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, de Ibn Faddal, de Al-Ala ibn Razin, de Muhammad ibn Muslim, qui a dit : J'ai entendu Abu Ja'far (que la paix soit sur lui) mentionner qu'il était venu voir le Messager d'Allah (que la prière d'Allah et Son salut soient sur lui et sa famille) accompagné d'un ange. L'ange lui dit : Certes, Allah, Puissant et Majestueux, te donne le choix entre être un humble serviteur prophète ou un roi prophète. Il regarda alors Gabriel et il fit un signe de la main pour lui indiquer de choisir l'humilité. Il répondit : Un humble serviteur prophète. Le Messager dit : Même ainsi, Il ne te privera de rien de ce qui est auprès de ton Seigneur. Il a avec Lui les clés des trésors de la terre.
6. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “It is of humbleness to be happy with one seat instead of another seat, to initiate the greeting of peace to one who meets him and to avoid extreme argumentation even though one is right, and should not love to be praised for piety.”

Il est parmi l'humilité de se contenter d'une place moins importante que celle que l'on mérite, de saluer toute personne rencontrée, d'éviter les disputes même si l'on a raison, et de ne pas aimer être loué pour sa piété.
7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Ali ibn Yaqtin from his narrators from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent revelation to Moses asking, ‘Moses, do you know why I chose you to speak to instead of My other creatures?’ He asked, ‘My Lord, why did You do so?’ The Imam said, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, revealed to Moses, “Moses, I turned My creatures upside down and I did not find anyone of a more humble soul than you. O Moses, whenever you prayed you had been placing your cheek on the soil,” or he said, ‘On earth.’”

Allah, le Très-Haut, a révélé à Moïse (sur lui soit la paix) : "Ô Moïse, sais-tu pourquoi Je t'ai choisi pour Mon discours plutôt que Mes créatures ?" Il répondit : "Ô Seigneur, et pourquoi cela ?" Allah, béni et exalté soit-Il, lui révéla : "Ô Moïse, J'ai retourné Mes serviteurs de face à dos, et je n'ai trouvé parmi eux personne plus humble envers Moi que toi. Lorsque tu pries, pose ta joue sur la terre."
8. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn Salim from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once, Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) was passing by the lepers while riding his donkey. They were having their lunch so they invited him to join them for food. The Imam said, ‘Had 1 not been fasting I would have joined you.’ When he returned home he asked that good food be prepared. He then invited the lepers for food and he (Ali ibn al-Husayn) (a.s.) joined them at the table.’” (Leprosy is a contagious disease.)

Ils l'invitèrent à déjeuner, mais il répondit : "Si je n'étais pas en train de jeûner, j'aurais accepté." Quand il arriva chez lui, il ordonna de préparer de la nourriture, leur demanda de se laver les mains, puis les invita à déjeuner avec lui et mangea en leur compagnie.
Several of our companions narrated from Ahmad ibn Abi Abdullah, from Uthman ibn Isa, from Harun ibn Kharijah, from Abu Abdullah (as), who said: "Verily, humility includes a man sitting below his social rank."

Certes, parmi l'humilité, il y a le fait pour un homme de s'asseoir en dessous de son rang.
10. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Qasim from ‘Amr ibn abu al-Miqdam from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Of the things that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, revealed to David was this: ‘O Dawud (David), just as the closest people to Allah are the humble people, arrogant people are the farthest from Allah.’”

Lorsque l'homme le vit, il en eut honte. Abu 'Abdillah (sur lui la paix) lui dit : "Tu l'as acheté pour tes enfants et tu le portes pour eux. Par Allah, si ce n'était pas pour les habitants de Médine, j'aurais aimé acheter quelque chose pour mes enfants et le leur porter."

11. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from Ali ibn al-Hakam in a marfu’ manner from abu Basir who has said the following: “Once I went to see abu al-Hassan Musa (a.s.) and it was in the year that Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) had passed away. I asked, ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, how is it that you offered a sheep as sacrifice and so and so offered a camel?’ The Imam said, ‘O abu Muhammad, Noah was in the ark in which there were things that Allah wanted. The ark was commanded to go seven times around the house. That is Tawaf al-Nisa’ (walking seven times around the House for women). Noah left the ark free. Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, inspired the mountains of His decision to allow the ark of Noah, His servant, land on one of the mountains. They all raised and stretched themselves higher. Only Mount Judi which is a mountain near you remained humble. The ark then placed itself on Mount Judi.’ The Imam said, ‘Noah then said, “O Mari atqan,” an Assyrian expression, meaning O Lord, make things go well. ’ I (the narrator) then thought abu al-Hassan (a.s.) was applying it to his own case.’”
Isnād11ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام)
قَالَ فِيمَا أَوْحَى الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى دَاوُدَ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَا دَاوُدُ كَمَا أَنَّ أَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ مِنَ الله الْمُتَوَاضِعُونَ كَذَلِكَ أَبْعَدُ النَّاسِ مِنَ الله الْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ.
12. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from a number of his people from Ali ibn Asbat from al-Hassan ibn al-Jahm from abu al-Hassan al- Rida (a.s.) who has said the following: “Humbleness is a form of behavior that one expects others to behave that way toward him.” “In another Hadith the narrator asked, ‘What is the definition of humbleness for which a servant (of Allah) could be considered humble?’ The Imam said, ‘There are several levels of humbleness. One is to know the value of one’s soul to place it at the position that it deserves with a peaceful heart and should not love to behave toward others in a way different from what he loves others to behave toward him. If he may find an evil behavior he should change it to a virtuous one. Those who suppress their anger are safe from people and Allah loves those who do good. ’”
IsnādD'après lui, de son père, d'Ali ibn al-Hakam, qui l'a rapporté à Abi Basir, il a dit : Je suis entré chez Abi al-Hasan Musa (que la paix soit sur lui) l'année où Abou Abdullah (que la paix soit sur lui) est décédé. Je lui ai dit : Que ma vie soit sacrifiée pour toi, pourquoi as-tu sacrifié un mouton et égorgé un tel individu ? Il a répondu : Ô Aba Muhammad, Noé (que la paix soit sur lui) était dans l'arche et tout ce qu'Allah voulait s'y trouvait. L'arche était commandée, elle a donc tourné autour de la Kaaba alors que Noé (que la paix soit sur lui) effectuait la circumambulation des femmes et a laissé son chemin à Noé (que la paix soit sur lui). Alors Allah, le Puissant et Majestueux, a inspiré aux montagnes : Je vais placer l'arche de Noé, Mon serviteur, sur une montagne de vous, qu'elle s'étende et se déploie, et la montagne la plus basse se courbera, et c'est une montagne parmi vous. L'arche a heurté la montagne avec ses côtés. Noé (que la paix soit sur lui) a dit à ce moment-là : Ô Marie, sois ferme ! Et il était en syriaque : Seigneur, répare-la. J'ai donc pensé qu'Abu al-Hasan (que la paix soit sur lui) se présentait de lui-même.
