Excellence de la Certitude

3. Ibn Mahbub has narrated from Hisham ibn Salim who has said the following: “I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘The little but continuous deed with certainty is far better in the sight of Allah than a great deal of deeds without certainty.’”

Certes, l'œuvre constante même si elle est peu, basée sur la certitude, est plus aimée par Allah que l'œuvre abondante sans certitude.

4. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’alla ibn Muhammad from al- Washsha’ from Aban from Zurara from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) once said from the pulpit, ‘No one among you can ever sense the taste of belief until he comes to know that whatever has happened right could not have happened wrong and whatever has happened wrong could not have happened right.’”

L'Imam Ali (que la paix soit sur lui) a dit sur le minbar : "Aucun d'entre vous ne goûtera pleinement la foi jusqu'à ce qu'il sache que ce qui l'a atteint ne pouvait pas le manquer, et ce qui l'a manqué ne pouvait pas l'atteindre."

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Zayd al- Shahham from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once, Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) during his court session, had sat leaning against a wall that was bent. Certain people asked him not to sit near the defective wall. Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) said, ‘This is like a man’s guarding his death,' (Futility of Guardian against death). When the Imam moved away, the wall crumbled. The Imam said, ‘Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) would often do such and similar things and that was because of certainty.’”

... que l'Imam Ali (que la paix soit sur lui) s'est assis près d'un mur incliné pour rendre la justice parmi les gens. Certains lui ont dit de ne pas s'asseoir sous ce mur car il est instable. L'Imam Ali (que la paix soit sur lui) a alors protégé un homme dont le destin était imminent. Quand il s'est levé, le mur s'est effondré. L'Imam Ali (que la paix soit sur lui) a dit : "C'est parmi ce que fait cet homme et ses semblables, et ceci est la certitude."

6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from Safwan al-Jammal who has said the following: “Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy: ‘The tumbling wall belonged to two orphans in the town whose father has been a righteous person. Underneath the wall there was a treasure that belonged to them.’ (18:82) “The Imam said, ‘It is a fact that the treasure did not consist of gold and silver. It consisted of four sentences: “No one deserves to be worshipped except I (Allah). Whoever has realized with certainty that death is inevitable has enough reason not to laugh for a year. Whoever has realized with certainty that accountability on the Day of Judgment is true has enough reason for his heart not to rest in ease. Whoever has realized with certainty that Allah does everything with strict measurements has enough reason not to fear anyone except Allah.’””

Il dit: "Ce n'était ni de l'or ni de l'argent, mais c'étaient quatre mots : 'Il n'y a de divinité qu'Allah'. Celui qui est convaincu de la mort, son sourire ne durera pas. Celui qui est convaincu du Jugement, son cœur ne se réjouira pas. Celui qui est convaincu du Destin, ne craindra rien sauf Allah."

7. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Safwan al-Jammal from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) has said, ‘A servant of Allah cannot sense the taste of belief until he comes to know that whatever has happened to him right could not have happened wrong and whatever has happened to him wrong could not have happened right. The one who can harm or benefit others is only Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy.”’

L'Imam des croyants (sur lui la paix) disait : "Un serviteur ne goûte pas la saveur de la foi jusqu'à ce qu'il sache que ce qui l'a touché ne pouvait pas le manquer, que ce qu'il a manqué ne pouvait pas le toucher, et que le préjudiciable et le bénéfique viennent de Dieu, le Puissant et Majestueux."

8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Washsha’ from ‘Abd ibn Sinan from abu Hamza from Sa’id ibn Qays al- Hamadani who has said the following: “One day during a war I looked on a man who was wearing two pieces of garment on him. I moved my horse nearer to him and I found him to be Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) and I said, ‘O Amir al-Mu’minin, is this a place (to be in with just two pieces of garment and no coats of arms)?’ The Imam said, ‘Yes, O Sa’id ibn al-Qays. For every servant of Allah there is a guard from Allah and a protecting angel to see that he will not fall off of a cliff or into a well, but when the appointed time comes for his death the angels just leave him alone to his own self.’”

Un jour, pendant la guerre, j'ai vu un homme portant deux manteaux. J'ai alors agité mon cheval et j'ai réalisé que c'était l'Imam Ali (que la paix soit sur lui). Je lui ai dit : "Ô Commandeur des croyants, dans une telle situation ?" Il a répondu : "Oui, ô Sa'id ibn Qays, il n'y a pas un serviteur sans qu'Allah ne lui ait assigné deux anges protecteurs qui le préservent de tomber d'une montagne ou de tomber dans un puits. Lorsque le destin arrive, ils le séparent de tout."

9. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’alla ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Asbat who has said the following: “I heard abu al-Hassan al-Rida (a.s.) saying, ‘In the treasure mentioned in the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy: “Underneath the wall there was a treasure that belonged to them. . . .,” ( 18 : 82 ) there were the following statements: ‘In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, strange to me is the case of a person who is certain of the coming of death but he feels happy. Strange to me is the case of a person who is certain of the strict measurement of Allah but he feels depressed. Strange to me is the case of a person who is aware of all the up and down in the world with its inhabitants but he still relies on it. It is expected from a man who has understanding of Allah not to accuse Allah in His decision and not to consider Him slow in His Providence.’ I then said, ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, I want to write it down. The Imam gave me, I swear by Allah, the inkpot so I can write. I reached out to his hands and kissed them and then took the inkpot and wrote down the Hadith.”’

J'ai entendu Aba al-Hasan al-Rida (que la paix soit sur lui) dire : "Il y avait dans le trésor dont Allah, le Très Haut, a parlé, et qui était sous eux, un trésor dans lequel était inscrit 'Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux'. J'étais étonné de celui qui est convaincu de la mort, comment peut-il se réjouir, et j'étais étonné de celui qui est convaincu du destin, comment peut-il être affligé, et j'étais étonné de celui qui voit ce monde et ses changements avec ses habitants, comment peut-il s'y attacher. Il convient à celui qui a du discernement par rapport à Allah de ne pas blâmer Allah dans Son décret ni de s'impatienter dans Sa providence." J'ai dit : "Que ma vie soit sacrifiée pour toi, je veux l'écrire." Il a alors tendu sa main vers la tablette pour la placer devant moi, j'ai pris sa main, l'ai embrassée et pris la tablette pour l'écrire.

10. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from ‘Abd al-Rahman al-‘Arzami from his father, from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Qanbar, a worker for Ali (a.s.) loved Ali intensely. Whenever Imam went out he followed him with a sword for protection. Once at night Imam Ali saw Qanbar and asked him, ‘What is the matter with you?’ He said, ‘O Amir al-Mu’minin, I follow you for your protection.’ The Imam said, ‘Qanbar, what is the matter with you, are you protecting me from the people of the heavens or from the people of the earth?’ He said, ‘I do not protect you from the people of the heavens but I protect you from the people of the earth.’ The Imam said, ‘The people of the earth can do nothing to me without permission from Allah from the heavens. Go back home.' And he obeyed.’”

Il a été rapporté que Qanbar, le serviteur d'Ali, aimait Ali (sur lui soit la paix) intensément. Quand Ali sortait, il le suivait avec une épée. Un soir, Ali le vit et lui demanda pourquoi il le suivait. Qanbar répondit : "Je suis venu pour marcher derrière toi, ô Commandeur des croyants." Ali lui dit : "Malheur à toi ! Es-tu du ciel pour me surveiller, ou es-tu de la terre ?" Qanbar répondit : "Non, je suis de la terre." Ali dit : "Les habitants de la terre ne peuvent rien pour moi sans la permission d'Allah du ciel. Retourne donc d'où tu viens." Et Qanbar retourna.

11. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from the one whom he has mentioned, he has said the following: “It was said to al-Rida (a.s.) ‘You speak of it (Your Divine Authority) and blood drips from the sword (of your enemies).’ The Imam said, ‘Allah has a valley that is gold. He has guarded it with ants, the weakest creature. Even if the camels of Khurasan (North East parts of Iran) try to go there they cannot reach it.’”

Il a été rapporté de l'Imam Ridā (que la paix soit sur lui) : "Tu parles de ces paroles alors que l'épée est trempée de sang ?" Il répondit : "Certes, Allah a une vallée en or qu'il protège avec Sa plus faible créature, la fourmi. Si les vautours voulaient l'atteindre, ils n'y parviendraient pas."
