3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ibn Mahbub from Dawud al-Riqqi who has said the following: “I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Be pious before Allah and do not envy each other. It was in the Shari’a of Jesus to travel in the land. During one of his journeys one of his companions, who was of short height, accompanied him very often. When they reached the sea, Jesus with correct certainty said, ‘(I begin) in the name of Allah,’ and began to walk over the water. The short man, looking at Jesus walking over the water, also with correct certainty said, ‘(I begin) in the name of Allah’, walked over the water and reached Jesus. At such time he felt proud of himself and said, ‘This is Jesus, the Spirit of Allah who walks over the water, and I also walk over the water. Why then should he be more excellent than me?’ The Imam said, ‘He then sunk in the water and cried for help from Jesus, who took him out of water and asked, ‘What did you say, O short man?’ He replied, ‘This is Jesus, the Spirit of Allah who walks over the water and I also walk over the water, and I sensed pride inside.’ Jesus said to him, ‘You placed yourself in a place where Allah had not placed it. Allah resented what you said. Repent and return to Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, because of what you have said.’ The man repented and returned to his position that Allah had given him. Be pious before Allah and no one of you must envy the others.’”
IsnādUne chaîne de transmission rapportée par certains de nos compagnons, de Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, de Ibn Mahboub, de Dawoud ar-Raqqi, qui a dit: J'ai entendu Abu Abdullah (paix soit sur lui) dire:
Craignez Allah et ne vous enviez pas les uns les autres. Certes, Jésus, fils de Marie, avait pour coutume de marcher sur les eaux dans certaines contrées. Une fois, il sortit marchant sur l'eau, accompagné d'un de ses compagnons, de petite taille mais ayant une grande foi en Jésus. Lorsqu'ils atteignirent la mer, Jésus dit: "Au nom de Dieu, avec une certitude absolue en Lui", et il marcha sur la surface de l'eau. Le compagnon de petite taille, en voyant Jésus marcher sur l'eau, dit lui aussi: "Au nom de Dieu, avec une certitude absolue en Lui", et il le rejoignit en marchant sur l'eau. Cela le surprit et il s'exclama: "C'est Jésus, l'Esprit de Dieu, marchant sur l'eau, et moi aussi je marche sur l'eau. Quelle est ma supériorité sur lui?" Alors il commença à s'enfoncer dans l'eau et appela Jésus à l'aide. Jésus le prit de la main et le sortit de l'eau, puis lui dit: "Pourquoi as-tu dit cela, ô petit homme?" Il répondit: "J'ai dit que c'était l'Esprit de Dieu marchant sur l'eau, et moi aussi je marche sur l'eau, ce qui m'a conduit à une situation étrange." Jésus lui dit: "Tu t'es mis dans un endroit où Dieu ne t'a pas placé. Dieu t'a donc détesté pour ce que tu as dit. Repens-toi à Dieu Tout-Puissant pour ce que tu as dit." L'homme se repentit et retourna à son état initial que Dieu lui avait assigné. Craignez donc Allah et ne vous enviez pas les uns les autres.
