7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from Rifa‘ah al-Nakhkhas from a man who has said the following: “Once abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, offered condolences to a man because of the death of his son, saying, ‘Allah is better for your son than you are, and the reward from Allah is better for you than your son.’ When he (Imam) heard him crying loudly, he returned to him saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah died. Is this not enough lesson for you?’ He said, ‘He (my son) was drunk.’ The Imam said, ‘There are three things before him: The testimony, “No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, the mercy and kindness of Allah and the intercession of the Messenger of Allah.” Either one of these will save him, if Allah so will.’”

Il a dit : "Abu Abdullah (que la paix soit sur lui) a consolé un homme qui avait perdu son fils en lui disant : 'Que Dieu soit meilleur pour ton fils que toi, et la récompense de Dieu est meilleure pour toi que ton fils'. Quand il l'a informé de la mort du Messager de Dieu (que la prière de Dieu et Ses bénédictions soient sur lui et sa famille), l'homme a été bouleversé. Plus tard, il est retourné le voir et lui a dit : 'Le Messager de Dieu est décédé, que signifie cela pour toi ?' Il a répondu : 'Il était un fardeau pour moi'. Il a dit : 'Il a devant lui trois qualités : le témoignage qu'il n'y a de divinité digne d'adoration qu'Allah, la miséricorde d'Allah et l'intercession du Messager de Dieu (que la prière de Dieu et Ses bénédictions soient sur lui et sa famille). Il ne manquera aucune de ces trois, si Dieu le veut'."
