2. Ahmad ibn Idris and others has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Ali ibn al-Rayyan from his father from Yunus or one other than him from those whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, I have heard that you had done certain things about the produce of the farm in ‘Ayn Ziyad (name of a certain oasis) and I like to hear it from you.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, I would command at the time fruits ripened to open gaps in the walls so people could come in to eat. I would command every day to arrange ten platforms, on each of which ten people could sit. As soon as the ten finished eating, the other ten would come and every one received a handful (mud) a certain measurement, of dates. I would command the neighbors of the property, every one of them, old man, old woman, children, people suffering from illness, women and those who were not able to come; everyone may eat one mud (a certain measurement). When it was time to pick fruits I paid the guards, agents and men who were hired to carry what was left to al-Madinah. I distributed among the people of the houses and the deserving people two or three rahilah (camel-load) or less or more, proportionate to their deservingness. I earned four hundred dinar and its gross income was four thousand dinar.’”

Il a dit : "Je lui ai dit : 'Puissé-je être ton sacrifice, il m'a été rapporté que tu faisais quelque chose dans le jardin d'Ziyad et j'aimerais l'entendre de toi.' Il a répondu : 'Oui, j'ordonnais que lorsque les fruits étaient mûrs, on devait les protéger avec des clôtures pour que les gens puissent entrer et manger. Et chaque jour, je faisais placer dix constructions, sur chacune desquelles dix personnes s'asseyaient. Chaque fois que dix personnes avaient mangé, dix autres arrivaient, et pour chaque personne, on apportait une mesure de dattes. Et je commandais à tous les habitants du village, qu'ils soient âgés, jeunes, malades, femmes, ou ceux qui ne pouvaient pas venir, de manger de cela, chacun recevant sa part. Et quand la récolte était prête, j'ai payé les travailleurs, les délégués, les hommes, et j'ai transporté le reste à la ville. J'ai ensuite distribué aux habitants des maisons, aux méritants, aux voyageurs, aux pauvres, en fonction de leur mérite. Après cela, j'ai reçu quatre cents dinars, et sa valeur était de quatre mille dinars.'
