3. It is a narration from him (narrator of previous Hadith) by Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “He (the Imam), ‘Alayhi al-Salam, said, ‘You must not perform Salah (prayer) in places where horses, mules and donkeys are kept.’”

Ne priez pas dans les endroits où se tiennent les chevaux, les mulets et les ânes.

4. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from someone who had asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) side of the wall of a Masjid from which sewage, in which people urinate, leaks. He (the Imam) said, ‘If the leakage is from the sewage, do not perform Salah (prayer) there; but if the leakage is from something else, it is not an offense to perform Salah (prayer) there.’”

concernant une mosquée dont le mur de la qibla est touché par de l'urine de chameau, dans laquelle il urine, il a dit : "Si elle est touchée par de l'urine de chameau, ne prie pas dedans. Mais si ce n'est pas le cas, alors il n'y a pas de problème."

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the barn of sheep. He (the Imam) said, ‘You can perform Salah (prayer) there but do not perform Salah (prayer) in the place where camels are kept, unless you are afraid for loss of your property, in which case, you can sweep and sprinkle water on it, then perform Salah (prayer) there.’ I then asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about performing Salah (prayer) on a roadside. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not an offense to perform Salah (prayer) in such place but not in the middle of a road.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is undesirable to perform Salah (prayer) on salt grounds unless there is a soft area on which the forehead can rest in a level manner.’ He (the narrator) has said that he then asked him (the Imam) about performing Salah (prayer) in al-Bi‘ah (Church). He (the Imam) said, ‘If you can face al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah), then it is not an offense to perform Salah (prayer) there.’ He (the narrator) has said that I saw him (the Imam) in rest areas on the road to Makkah sometimes sprinkle water on the place for his forehead during Sajdah (prostration), and perform Sajdah (prostration) when still wet, as he (the Imam) sometimes would not sprinkle water if it was fine (already wet). He (the narrator) has said that he asked him (the Imam) about a man who sails in water and time for Salah (prayer) arrives. He (the Imam) said, ‘If he is in a war only making gestures for Salah (prayer) is sufficient but if he is a merchant, he is not to sail before performing Salah (prayer).’”

J'ai demandé à Abu Abdullah (que la paix soit sur lui) à propos de la prière dans les enclos des moutons. Il a dit : Priez-y et ne priez pas dans les endroits où les chameaux se tiennent, sauf si vous craignez pour vos biens agricoles, alors nettoyez-les, arrosez-les d'eau et priez-y. J'ai aussi demandé à propos de la prière sur le bord de la route. Il a dit : Il n'y a pas de mal à prier sur les endroits évidents entre les chameaux, mais pas sur les endroits où ils se tiennent. Il a dit : La prière est déconseillée sur les tas de fumier, sauf s'ils sont doux et que le front peut s'y poser à plat. J'ai aussi demandé à propos de la prière dans les lieux de vente. Il a dit : Si tu fais face à la Qibla, il n'y a pas de mal. J'ai vu qu'il arrosait parfois l'endroit où son front se poserait, puis il y faisait la prosternation, humide comme il était, et parfois il ne l'arrosait pas s'il pensait qu'il était propre. J'ai aussi demandé à propos d'un homme qui plonge dans l'eau et la prière le rattrape. Il a dit : S'il est en guerre, le signe de la tête suffit, et s'il est commerçant, qu'il se lève et ne commence pas avant d'avoir prié.

6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Abd al-Majid from abu Jamilah from abu ‘Usamah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Do not perform Salah (prayer) in a house in which there is a Zoroastrian, but it is not a offense if there is a Jew or a Christian.’”

Ne prie pas dans une maison où il y a un adorateur du feu (mazdéen), mais il n'y a pas de mal à prier dans une maison où il y a un juif ou un chrétien.

7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr who has said the following: “I once said to abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘We were in al-Bayda’ (name of a place) toward the end of the night. I took Wudu’, brushed my teeth and I intended to perform Salah (prayer), then it occurred to me. Is it permissible to perform Salah (prayer), in al-Bayda’ in the carriage? He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not perform Salah (prayer) in al-Bayda’.’ I then asked, ‘What are the limits of al- Bayda’?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, would on reaching Dhat al-Jaysh travel faster. He (the Imam) would not perform Salah (prayer) until reaching Mu‘arras of the Holy prophet.’ I then asked, ‘Where is Dhat al-Jaysh?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is three miles before al-Hafirah.’”

...Nous étions dans le désert en fin de nuit, j'ai fait mes ablutions et j'ai commencé ma prière alors que j'étais très absorbé. Puis il sembla qu'il se passa quelque chose dans mon cœur. Est-il permis de prier dans le désert en portant un manteau ? Il a répondu : Ne prie pas dans le désert. J'ai demandé : Où se situe la limite du désert ? Il a dit : C'était Abu Ja'far (sur lui la paix) lorsqu'il atteignait la première rangée de l'armée en marche, il ne priait pas jusqu'à ce qu'il atteigne le lieu où le Prophète (que la paix et les bénédictions d'Allah soient sur lui et sa famille) se mariait. J'ai demandé : Où se situe cette première rangée de l'armée ? Il a dit : Avant la clairière, à trois milles.

8. It is a narration from him (narrator of previous Hadith) by Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn al-Fadl who has said the following: “Al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Do not perform Salah (prayer) on any road which is used, regardless, it has a main path or not. It is not proper to perform Salah (prayer) on it.’ I then asked, ‘Where then one can perform Salah (prayer)?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘On its right or left sides.’”

Al-Ridâ (que la paix soit sur lui) a dit: "Tout chemin qui est piétiné et parcouru est considéré comme une route, et il n'est pas approprié d'y accomplir la prière." J'ai demandé: "Alors, où devrais-je prier?" Il a répondu: "À droite et à gauche."

9. Muhammad ibn Yahya and others has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Ayyub ibn Nuh who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, the last, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘It becomes the time for Salah (prayer) and one is in al-Bayda’ (name of a place). What is he to do?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘One moves away from the center toward the right or left, then performs Salah (prayer).”’

Il a dit : "Je lui ai dit : 'La prière est imminente et l'homme est dans la plaine.' Il a répondu : 'Il s'écarte du chemin des chevaux vers la droite et vers la gauche, puis il accomplit sa prière.'"

10. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from ‘Abd ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘It is undesirable to perform Salah (prayer) in three locations of roads. They are al-Bayda’ which is Dhat al-Jaysh, Dhat al-Salasil, and Dajnan (names of places).’ He (the narrator) has said that he (the Imam) then said, ‘It is not an offense to perform Salah (prayer) above the main road but it is undesirable to perform Salah (prayer) on the main road.’”

Il a été rapporté de l'Imam Abu 'Abd Allah (que la paix soit sur lui) qu'il a dit : "La prière est déconseillée à trois endroits le long du chemin désert : Dhat al-Jaysh, Dhat al-Salasil et Dajnan. Il a également dit qu'il n'y a pas de mal à prier entre les repères, qui sont les poteaux indicateurs du chemin, et il est déconseillé de prier au milieu des repères."

11. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from certain persons of our people who have said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Salah (prayer) is not performed in al-Shuqrah valley.’”

Il n'est pas permis de prier dans la vallée de Shuqra.

12. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah has narrated from ibn al-Barqiy from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Fadl from those who narrated to him has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Salah (prayer) is not performed in ten places, such as in clay, water, bath houses, on graves, on main roads, ant’s colonies, camel’s barns, water beds, salt grounds and on snow.’”

Dix endroits où la prière n'est pas permise: dans la terre, dans l'eau, dans les bains publics, sur les tombes, sur les routes des fourmis, dans les enclos des chameaux, dans les cours d'eau, dans les marais, sur la neige.

13. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from ‘Ammar al-Sabatiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about what is clay on which Sajdah (prostration) cannot be performed. He (the Imam) said, ‘Clay is that on which one’s forehead sinks lower and lower without remaining in one place on earth.’ I asked about a man who performs Salah (prayer) on graves. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not permissible unless he places something between himself and the graves when performing Salah (prayer), like a distance of ten yards from his front side and from his back side, ten yards from the right and ten yards from the left; then he can perform Salah (prayer) if he wanted.’”

J'ai demandé à l'Imam Sadiq (que la paix soit sur lui) au sujet de la limite de la terre sur laquelle on ne peut pas se prosterner. Il a dit : "Lorsque le front s'enfonce et ne se stabilise pas sur le sol." Et concernant un homme priant entre les tombes, il a dit : "Ce n'est pas permis, sauf s'il laisse entre lui et les tombes, lorsqu'il prie, une distance de dix coudées devant lui, dix coudées derrière lui, dix coudées à sa droite et dix coudées à sa gauche, puis qu'il prie s'il le souhaite."

14. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Dawud al-Sarmiy who has said the following: “I once said to abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I may go in this direction and may not find a place to perform Salah (prayer) because of snow. He (the Imam) said, ‘If possible, do not perform Sajdah (prostration) on snow and if not, then level it and perform Sajdah (prostration) on it.’” In another Hadith it is said, ‘Perform Sajdah (prostration) on your clothes.’”

"Si tu peux éviter de te prosterner sur la neige, alors ne te prosterne pas. Et si tu ne peux pas, alors nettoie-la et prosterne dessus."

15. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Imran ibn Musa and Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from ‘Ammar al-Sabatiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who performs Salah (prayer) and in front of him there is an open copy of Quran. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not permissible.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if it is in a cover?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is permissible.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘One is not to perform Salah (prayer) with a fire in front of him, or iron.’ He (the Imam) was asked about a man who performs Salah (prayer) with a chandelier hanging in his front with fire in it except that it is his view. He (the Imam) said, ‘When it is higher it is evil. One is not to perform Salah (prayer) with it in one’s view.’”

Il a dit : "Celui qui prie avec un Coran ouvert devant lui, je lui ai dit : Non. S'il est dans une couverture, il a dit : Oui. Et il a dit : Un homme ne doit pas prier avec du feu ou du fer devant lui. Et concernant un homme qui prie avec une lanterne suspendue devant lui et qu'elle contient du feu, sa prière n'est pas valide, sauf s'il la retire. Quand elle est éteinte, elle est mauvaise et il ne doit pas prier avec elle."

16. Muhammad has narrated from al-‘Amrakiy from Ali ibn Ja‘far who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who performs Salah (prayer) with a lamp placed in his front in the direction of al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not proper for him to face fire.’ It is also narrated that it is not an offense because the One for whom Salah (prayer) is performed is closer to one (person performing Salah (prayer)).”’

J'ai demandé à Abu al-Hasan (que la paix soit sur lui) au sujet d'un homme qui prie alors que la lampe est placée devant lui, entre lui et la qibla. Il a dit : "Il ne convient pas pour lui de faire face au feu." Il a également été rapporté qu'il n'y a pas de mal en cela, car celui pour qui il prie est plus proche de lui que cela."

17. Muhammad ibn al-Hassan and Ali ibn Muhammad have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mahbub, from Ali ibn Ri’ab from Jamil ibn Salih, from Fudayl ibn Yasar who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I stand up for Salah (prayer) and see feces in the direction of al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah). He (the Imam) said, ‘Keep away from it as much as you can and do not perform Salah (prayer) on a main road.’”

J'ai demandé à Abu Abdullah (sur lui la paix) : "Je me lève pour prier et je vois devant moi une impureté sur le lieu de la prière, que dois-je faire ?" Il a dit : "Écarte-la autant que tu le peux et ne prie pas sur les excréments."

18. A group has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-‘Ala’ from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “One of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ‘Do not perform obligatory Salah (prayer) in al- Ka‘bah.’” In another Hadith it is narrated that Salah (prayer) is performed toward four directions if one has no choice but to do so.”

Il a été rapporté que l'on ne doit pas accomplir la prière obligatoire à l'intérieur de la Kaaba. Et dans un autre hadith, il a été rapporté qu'on peut prier sur ses quatre côtés si nécessaire.

19. A group has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from ibn Muskan from Khalid abu ’Isma‘il who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘Can one perform Salah (prayer) on abu Qubays (name of the hill) facing the direction of al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah)? He (the Imam) said, ‘There is no offense in it.”’

Un homme prie sur Abu Qubays en étant face à la qibla?" Il a répondu: "Il n'y a pas de mal."

20. A group has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Safwan ibn Yahya from al-‘Ala’ from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked one of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about pictures in the house. He (the Imam) said, ‘There is no offense in it if it is on your right, left, behind you or under your feet. If it is in the direction of al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah), then cover it with a piece of cloth.’”

J'ai demandé à l'un d'eux (paix soit sur eux) au sujet des statues dans la maison, et il a dit: "Il n'y a pas de mal si elles sont à ta droite, à ta gauche, derrière toi ou sous tes pieds, mais s'il y en a une devant toi (la direction de la prière), jette un vêtement dessus."

21. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Ishaq ibn Muhammad from ‘Abd al-Salam ibn Salih who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of one who at the time of Salah (prayer) is on the top of al-Ka‘bah. He (the Imam) said, ‘If he stands up there is no al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) for him; however, he lies down on his back and opens his eyes to the sky and keeps in his heart al-Qiblah which is in the heaven, al-Bayt al-Ma‘mur, does the recitation and for Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) closes his eyes. When intending to raise his head from Ruku‘ opens his eyes and for Sujud (prostrations) he does the same.’”

Il a été rapporté de l'Imam Riḍā (que la paix soit sur lui) concernant celui sur lequel la prière le rattrape alors qu'il est au-dessus de la Ka'ba : S'il se lève, il n'a pas de qibla, mais il s'allonge sur son côté, ouvre ses yeux vers le ciel, fixe dans son cœur la qibla qui est dans le ciel, la Maison fréquentée, et récite. Lorsqu'il veut s'incliner, il ferme ses yeux, et lorsqu'il veut relever sa tête de l'inclinaison, il ouvre ses yeux, et la prosternation se fait de la même manière.

22. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from certain persons of his people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about pictures on furnishings which come in one’s view has said, ‘If there is one eye for it, it is not harmful but if it has two eyes then it is not permissible.’”

...concernant la représentation (des êtres vivants) qui peut se trouver sur le tapis et sur lequel ton regard tombe pendant que tu pries, il a dit : "S'il n'a qu'un œil, alors il n'y a pas de mal, mais s'il en a deux, alors non."

23. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Hammad from Hariz from Zurarah and Ali ibn Hadid who have said the following: “We once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a roof on which there is urine. Can one perform Salah (prayer) there? He (the Imam) said, ‘If sun rays and wind can reach it and it is dry, there is no offense in it unless it is used as a urinating place.’”

Nous avons demandé à Abu Abdullah (sur lui la paix) : "Si de l'urine ou des excréments tombent sur le sol, peut-on prier à cet endroit ?" Il a répondu : "S'il est touché par le soleil et le vent et qu'il est sec, il n'y a pas de mal à prier dessus, sauf s'il est utilisé comme lieu d'uriner."

24. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from ‘Ammar al-Sabatiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Salah (prayer) is not performed in a house where wine and intoxicating items exist.’”

Il n'est pas permis de prier dans une maison où il y a du vin ou une substance enivrante.

25. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from Hammad from ‘Amir ibn Nu’aym who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of these houses where people lodge, in which there is urine of animals and dung, where Jews and Christians enter. How is one to perform Salah (prayer)? He (the Imam) said, ‘Perform Salah (prayer) on your clothes.’”

26. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from af-Hassan ibn Afi af-Washsha’ from Aban from ‘Amr ibn Khafid who has said the foiiowing: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Jibril said, “O Messenger of Allah, we do not enter a house in which there are pictures of a human being, or a house used for urinating or a house where a dog exists.’””

Gabriel (que la paix soit sur eux) a dit : "Ô Messager d'Allah, nous n'entrons pas dans une maison où il y a une image d'un être humain, ni dans une maison où l'on garde des animaux, ni dans une maison où il y a un chien."

27. Abu Afi ai-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd af-Jabbar from Safwan from ibn Muskan from Muhammad Marwan who has said the foiiowing: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Jibril came to me and said, “We the community of angels do not enter a house in which a dog exists, or there is a statue of a body or there is a pot with urine in it.””

Le Messager de Dieu (que la prière de Dieu et Ses bénédictions soient sur lui) a dit : "Certes, Gabriel (sur lui le salut) est venu à moi et a dit : Nous, les anges, n'entrons pas dans une maison où se trouve un chien, une représentation d'un être vivant, ou un récipient contenant de l'eau stagnante."
