1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Mu‘awiyah ibn Hakim from Muhammad ibn Hubab al-Jallab who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of a man who bought one hundred sheep; if so and so many of them were changed. 3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from Zayd al- Shahham who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of a man who bought the shares of butchers before the shares were taken out. He (the Imam) said, ‘Nothing can be purchased until it is known where the shares come. If he buys like this he has the choice to buy or not to buy it.’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Salmah ibn al-Khattab from Ibrahim ibn ‘Uqbah from Salih ibn Ali ibn ‘Atiyyah from a whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, once passed by a people of al-Ansar who were farming and he (the Imam) said to them, ‘Continue farming; the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “Allah causes it to grow by wind as He does so by water.’” They farmed and their farm turned out good.”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ibn Muskan from Sadir who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘The Israelites went to Moses and asked him to ask Allah to make the sky rain on them only when they wanted and stop it from raining when they wanted. Moses asked Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, and Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, said, ‘O Moses, they can have it as they wanted.’ Moses informed them about it and they cultivated and farmed all they wanted. They then asked for rain whenever they wanted and stopped it as they wanted. Their farms grew like mountains and thick brushwood. They then harvested, threshed and exposed it to the wind (to separate the grain from the hay) but did not find anything. They expressed their anger to Moses and said, ‘We only asked you to ask Allah to send rain for us when we wanted and He agreed, but then He made it harmful to us.’ Moses then said, ‘O Lord, the Israelites have shown exasperation for what You have done to them.’ Allah asked, ‘What is it that I have done to them, O Moses?’ Moses said, ‘They asked me to ask You to send rain on them only when they wanted and stop it when they wanted. You agreed but then made it harmful to them.’ Allah said, ‘O Moses, I was measuring it for the Israelites but they were not happy with My measurement for them, then I agreed to leave it to their will, then it happened as you have seen.’”

Moïse demanda cela à Allah pour eux et Allah dit à Moïse: "Je leur accorde cela, ô Moïse." Moïse les informa, ils labourèrent et ne laissèrent rien sans le semer. Puis ils invoquèrent la pluie selon leur désir et la retinrent selon leur désir. Leurs cultures devinrent alors comme des montagnes et des champs étrangers. Ensuite, ils récoltèrent, piétinèrent et laissèrent tout, mais ne trouvèrent rien. Ils vinrent alors en tumulte vers Moïse et dirent: "Nous t'avons demandé de demander à Allah de faire pleuvoir du ciel sur nous quand nous le voulions, et Il nous a répondu, puis Il a fait du tort à notre égard." Moïse dit: "Ô Seigneur, les Enfants d'Israël se sont plaints de ce que Tu leur as fait." Allah dit: "Et de quoi se plaignent-ils, ô Moïse?" Il dit: "Ils m'ont demandé de Te demander de faire pleuvoir du ciel quand ils le voulaient et de retenir la pluie quand ils le voulaient, et Tu les as exaucés, puis Tu leur as causé du tort." Allah dit: "Ô Moïse, J'étais Celui qui déterminait pour les Enfants d'Israël, mais ils n'ont pas accepté Mon décret, alors Je les ai exaucés selon leur désir, et voilà ce que tu as vu."
