Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajj aj who has said the following: “I, once, was with abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, when a man asked him (the Imam) about al- Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water). He (the Imam) said, ‘Its use is not unlawful.’ He then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, in our land they are dogs that come out of the water.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘When they come out of the water do they then live on land?’ The man replied, ‘No, they do not live on land.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Its use is not unlawful.’”

Le Prophète (que la paix et les bénédictions de Dieu soient sur lui) a dit : "Quand un chien boit dans votre récipient, lavez-le sept fois, la première fois avec de la terre." (Rapporté par Muslim)

4. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al- Salam, in winter would wear al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) decorated on both sides and a hat of al-Khazz for winter, then sell them in the summer and give its value in charity.’ He (the Imam) then read, ‘Who has made unlawful the beautiful things that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has brought out for His servants and the very fine kinds of means of sustenance. (7:31)’”

Qui interdit les parures qu'Allah a produites pour Ses serviteurs et les bonnes choses de la subsistance.

5. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from al-‘Is ibn al-Qasim from abu Dawud, Yusuf ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “I once visited abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, and I was wearing a gown of al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) with its lining of al-Khazz, a Taylisan (pallium) of al-Khazz of very fine texture. I then said, ‘I am wearing a kind of clothing which I do not like.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Why is that so?’ I replied, ‘It is this Taylisan.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is the matter with it?’ I replied, ‘It is of al-Khazz.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is wrong with al-Khazz?’ I then said, ‘Its warp is of abrisam (silk from silk worm).’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is wrong with abrisam? It is not detestable if its warp is of abrisam, or its buttons or its emblems. Only all abrisam is detestable for men, and not for women.’”

J'ai rencontré Abu Abdullah (que la paix soit sur lui) et je portais un vêtement en laine de couleur khas, avec une doublure en laine khas et un col en laine khas. J'ai dit : "Je déteste porter ce vêtement." Il a demandé : "Qu'est-ce qui ne va pas avec ton col ?" J'ai répondu : "C'est en laine khas." Il a demandé : "Qu'est-ce qui ne va pas avec la laine khas ?" J'ai dit : "C'est fabriqué à Ibrisam." Il a demandé : "Qu'est-ce qui ne va pas avec l'Ibrisam ?" J'ai dit : "Les hommes n'aiment pas que leur vêtement soit fabriqué en Ibrisam, mais cela n'est pas interdit pour les femmes."

6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Musa ibn al-Qasim from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthman from abu Jamilah from a man who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘We the community of the family of Muhammad wear al- Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) and al-Yumnah (that which is made in Yemen).’”

Nous, membres de la famille de Muhammad, portons du lin et de la laine.

7. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Sa‘d ibn Sa‘d who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is al-Khazz that we wear.’ I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, that is fur.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If its fur is lawful so also is its skin.’”

J'ai interrogé ar-Ridā (que la paix soit sur lui) au sujet des peaux de la bête sauvage. Il a dit : C'est ce que l'on porte des peaux de bête sauvage. Que ma vie soit sacrifiée pour toi, ô fils de la bonté ! Lorsque sa bonté est licite, sa peau est licite.

8. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ja‘far ibn ‘Isa who has said the following: “I once wrote to abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about animals from the fur of which al- Khazz is made; if such animals are of predators.’ He (the Imam) wrote in answer, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn, wore al-Khazz (garments made from skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) then my grandfather also did so.’”

Je lui ai écrit à Abi al-Hasan ar-Rida (que la paix soit sur lui) lui demandant au sujet des animaux dont la laine est utilisée pour fabriquer le tapis, sont-ils des bêtes sauvages ? Il répondit : Le tapis d'al-Husayn ibn 'Ali (que la paix soit sur lui) et après lui, de mon grand-père (que la paix soit sur eux).

9. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn Salim from Ahmad ibn al-Nadr from ‘Amr ibn Shamir from Jabir who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that when al-Husayn, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, was murdered, he wore a dark color Jubbah (gown) of al-Khazz (garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water). They found thirty-three torn spots in it because of being hit with sword, spears or shooting arrows.’”

Al-Husayn ibn Ali (que la paix soit sur lui) a été tué, revêtu d'une tunique de Khazz, criblé de soixante-trois coups, entre des coups d'épée, des coups de lance ou des flèches.

10. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Hafs ibn ‘Umar (‘Amr) abu Muhammad Mu’adhdhin Ali ibn Yaqtin who has said the following: “I saw abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, performing Salat (prayer) in al-Rawdah and wore a jubbah (gown) of al-Khazz (garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) of the color of quince.’”
