3. Al-Husayn from Muhammad has narrated from Ahmad ibn Ishaq from Bakr ibn Muhammad who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, sawiq grows flesh and strengthens the bones .’”

"Le saouïq fait pousser la chair et renforce les os."

4. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa Khalid ibn Najih who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, sawiq is the food of the messengers’ or he (the Imam) said, ‘the food of the Prophets.’”

"La soupe est la nourriture des messagers, ou des prophètes."

It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from A number of our people have narrated from Ali ibn Asbat from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Sayabah from Jundab ibn ‘Abd Allah who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan, Musa, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, sawiq was made by the instruction from the heavens.’”

6. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Yahya ibn al-Mubarak from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Dry sawiq removes whiteness (albinism).”’

7. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar and others have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Muskan who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘Drinking sawiq with oil grows flesh, strengthens the bones, softens the skin and increases al-Bah (sexual desire).”’

Boire du jus de dattes avec de l'huile fait pousser la chair, renforce les os, adoucit la peau et augmente la vigueur.

8. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Qutaybah al-‘A’sha’ who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Three handfuls of dry sawiq before breakfast absorbs phlegm and bile and it almost does not leave anything behind.’”

"Trois gorgées de miel pur sur un estomac vide assèchent le mucus et la bile à tel point qu'il ne reste presque rien."

9. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-Nadr ibn Qarwash who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Awwal, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If you turn sawiq seven times upside down and change its place from one pot into the other it then can remove fever and send power to the legs and feet.’”

10. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman and Muhammad ibn Sawqah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, sawiq digests heads (hard to digest food).”’ (See also Hadith 1 above).

11. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Musa ibn al-Qasim from Yahya ibn Musawir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, sawiq removes bitterness (bile) and phlegm from the stomach and dispels seventy kinds of illness.’”

12. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from his father from abu ‘Abd Allah, al-Barqiy from Bakr ibn Muhammad from Khaythamah who has said the following: “If one drinks sawiq for forty mornings his shoulder will fill up with strength.’”

Celui qui boit du jus de réglisse pendant quarante matins, ses épaules seront remplies de force.

13. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Musa ibn al-Hassan from al-Sayyariy from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, wrote from Khurasan to al-Madinah, ‘Do not make abu Ja‘far al- Thaniy to drink sawiq with sugar because it is bad for man.’ “Al-Sayyariy has explained it from ‘Ubayd Allah that it is undesirable for men because it weakens manhood desire due to its cold nature with sugar.”

Ne donnez pas à boire à Abu Ja'far al-Thani al-Sawiq avec de l'alcool, car il est détestable pour les hommes.

14. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn Ja‘far from Muhammad ibn Khalid from Sayf al-Tammar who has said the following: “One of our friends became ill in Makkah and began to hallucinate. I went to see abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, and informed him (the Imam) about him. He (the Imam) said, ‘Make him drink sawiq of barley; it will cure him by the will of Allah and it is the food for the stomach of patients.’ He (the narrator) has said, ‘We made him drink it for two days or he said, ‘twice’ our friend was cured.’”

"Certains de nos compagnons tombèrent malades à La Mecque et à Boursim. Je suis alors entré chez Abi Abdillah (sur lui la paix) pour l'informer. Il me dit : 'Donne-lui à boire de la bouillie d'orge, car cela le guérira, si Allah le veut, et c'est une nourriture pour l'estomac du malade.' Il ajouta : 'Nous ne lui avons donné de la bouillie d'orge que deux fois, ou peut-être trois fois, jusqu'à ce que notre compagnon soit guéri.'"
