Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah asservit les gens de Quraysh

313. Ibn Mahbub, from Abu Ayyub, from Burayd Bin Muawiya who said: I heard Abu Ja’far (a.s.) saying that: ‘Yazid Ibn Muawiya (la) entered Al-Medina and he wanted to perform the Pilgrimage. So he sent for a man from Quraysh who came to him. So Yazid (la) said to him, ‘Do you accept that you are my slave, and if I wish I can sell you, and if I wish I can promote you?’ So the man said to him (la), ‘You are no more prestigious than me among the Quraysh in nobility, nor was your father more preferable than my father during the era of ignorance and Al-Islam, and neither are you (la) more preferable than me in the Religion, nor better than me. So how can I accept what you are asking of me?’ So Yazid (la) said to him, ‘By Allah (azwj)! If you do not accept me, I shall kill you’. So the man said to him (la), ‘Your killing me would not be greater than your killing of Al-Husayn Ibn Ali (a.s.) the so of Rasulallah (s.w)’. So he ordered that he be killed, may Allah Curse him. Then he sent for Ali Ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.). So he said to him similar to what he had said to the Qurayshi. Ali Ibn Al-Husayn (a.s) said to him: ‘Do you see that if I do not accept you, you kill me just as you (la) killed the man yesterday?’ Yazid (la) said to him, ‘Yes’. So Ali Ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.) said to him: ‘I have accepted to you (la) with what you asked. I am a humble slave (of Allah), so if you wish captivate me or if you wish, release me’. So Yazid (la) said to him, ‘It is of a higher level (referring to the one whom he had killed the day before) even if I (kill) or spare your blood it would not reduce your nobility.'"

"Yazid ibn Mu'awiya est entré dans la ville de Médine alors qu'il voulait accomplir le pèlerinage. Il envoya un homme de Quraysh le rencontrer. Lorsque l'homme vint le voir, Yazid lui demanda : 'Me reconnais-tu comme ton esclave ? Si tu veux, je te libère, et si tu veux, je te prends en otage.' L'homme lui répondit : 'Par Allah, ô Yazid, tu n'es pas plus noble que moi dans Quraysh, ni ton père n'était plus honorable que le mien dans la période pré-islamique et dans l'islam, et tu n'es pas meilleur que moi en religion ou en bien. Comment puis-je te reconnaître comme tu le demandes ?' Yazid lui dit : 'Par Allah, si tu ne me reconnais pas, je te tuerai.' L'homme lui répondit : 'Ta mort pour moi n'est pas plus grande que la mort de Husayn ibn Ali (que la paix soit sur lui), le fils du Messager d'Allah (que la paix et les bénédictions d'Allah soient sur lui). Alors Yazid ordonna qu'il soit tué, qu'Allah le maudisse. Puis il envoya vers Ali ibn al-Husayn (que la paix soit sur lui) et lui dit les mêmes paroles qu'il avait dites à l'homme de Quraysh. Ali ibn al-Husayn lui dit : 'Et si je ne te reconnais pas, vas-tu me tuer comme tu as tué l'homme hier ?' Yazid lui répondit : 'Que la malédiction d'Allah soit sur toi.' Ali ibn al-Husayn dit : 'J'accepte ce que tu demandes. Je suis un esclave contraint. Si tu veux, retiens-moi, et si tu veux, vends-moi.' Yazid lui dit : 'Que la malédiction d'Allah soit sur toi, tu as plus de droits sur toi-même que de céder à cela et cela ne diminue en rien ton honneur.'"
