Praise of Abu Dharr

478. Al-Husayn Bin Muhammad Al-Ashary, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Asbaat, from Sa’daan Bin Muslim, from some of our companions, who has narrated the following: Abu Abdullah (asws) having said: ‘There was a man in Al-Medina who entered the Masjid of the Messenger (saww) and he said, ‘Grant me comfort in my anxiety, and company for my loneliness, and sustenance of a righteous companion’. There was a man seated in the corner of the Masjid. So he greeted him and said to him, ‘Who are you, O servant of Allah (azwj)?’ So he (ar) said: ‘I (ar) am Abu Dharr (ar)’. The man said, ‘Allah (azwj) is Great! Allah (azwj) is Great!’ So Abu Dharr (ar) said: ‘And why did you exclaim that, O servant of Allah (azwj)?’ He said, ‘I entered the Masjid, so I supplicated to Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic to Grant me comfort in my anxiety, and company for my loneliness, and sustenance of a righteous companion’. So Abu Dharr (ar) said to him, ‘I (ar) have more right for the exclamation than you are if I (ar) was that companion, for I (ar) heard the Rasool Allah (saww) saying: ‘I (saww) and you (ar) would be upon a canal on the Day of Judgement until the people are free from the Accounting. Arise (and leave) O servant of Allah (azwj) for the authorities have prohibited for anyone to be seated with me (ar)’.

Il a été rapporté que Abu Dharr a dit : "Un homme à Médine entrait dans la mosquée du Prophète (que la paix soit sur lui) et disait : 'Ô Allah, console ma solitude, renforce mon unité et accorde-moi la compagnie d'un pieux compagnon.' Un jour, il rencontra un homme à l'extrémité de la mosquée, le salua et lui demanda : 'Qui es-tu, ô serviteur d'Allah ?' L'homme répondit : 'Je suis Abu Dharr.' L'autre homme s'exclama : 'Allah est le Plus Grand, Allah est le Plus Grand !' Abu Dharr demanda : 'Pourquoi fais-tu cela, ô serviteur d'Allah ?' L'homme répondit : 'J'ai invoqué Allah pour me consoler dans ma solitude, renforcer mon unité et m'accorder la compagnie d'un pieux compagnon.' Abu Dharr lui dit : 'Je suis plus digne de dire "Allah est le Plus Grand" que toi si je suis ce compagnon, car j'ai entendu le Messager d'Allah (que la paix soit sur lui et sa famille) dire : "Moi et vous, nous serons ensemble sur une colline le Jour du Jugement, jusqu'à ce que les gens aient fini d'être jugés. Lève-toi, ô serviteur d'Allah, car le Sultan a interdit de me fréquenter."'
