308. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al-Hassan Bin Mahboub, from Muqatil Bin Suleyman who said: I asked Abu Abdullah (asws), ‘What was the length of Adam (as) when he (as) descended to the earth, and what was the length of Hawwa (as)?’ He (asws) said: ‘We (asws) found in the Book of Ali (asws) Bin Abu Talib (asws) that when Allah (azwj) Made Adam (as) and his (as) wife Hawwa (as) to the earth, his (as) legs were in its twin part of Al-Safa (Al-Marwa), and his (as) head was under the horizon of the sky, and he (as) complained to Allah (azwj) from the difficulty caused by the heat of the sun. So Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic Revealed unto Jibraeel (as) that Adam (as) had complained from the difficulty caused from the heat of the Sun. So he compressed him (as) with a compression and his (as) length became of seventy cubits, and he compressed Hawwa (as) with a compression, so her (as) length became of thirty five cubits’.
Ali ibn Ibrahim a rapporté de son père, de Al-Hasan ibn Mahboub, de Muqatil ibn Suleiman, qui a dit : J'ai demandé à Abi Abdullah (que la paix soit sur lui) : "Quelle était la taille d'Adam (que la paix soit sur lui) lorsqu'il est descendu sur terre, et quelle était la taille de Hawwa (Eve) ?" Il a dit : "Nous avons trouvé dans le livre d'Ali ibn Abi Talib (que la paix soit sur lui) que lorsque Allah, le Puissant et Majestueux, a fait descendre Adam et son épouse Hawwa sur terre, leurs pieds touchaient la surface de la terre, sa tête était en dessous de l'horizon du ciel, et il se plaignait à Allah de la chaleur du soleil. Alors Allah, le Puissant et Majestueux, a inspiré à Gabriel (que la paix soit sur lui) que Adam se plaignait de la chaleur du soleil, alors fais-lui un signe et raccourcis sa taille de soixante-dix coudées, et fais un signe à Hawwa pour que sa taille devienne de trente-cinq coudées."
