This World and The Hereafter Are on the Two Sides of a Scale

2-95 (The compiler of the book narrated) that his father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Sa’ed ibn Abdullah quoted Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad al-Isfahani, on the authority of Suleiman ibn Davood al-Minqari, on the authority of Sufyan ibn Ayyineh, on the authority of Al-Zuhra that he had heard Ali ibn al-Hussein (MGB) say, “Whoever is not calmed by what God has promised would suffer from worldly losses. By God, this world and the Hereafter are like the two sides of a scale. Whichever side is loaded more and goes down, the other side would get lighter and go up.” The Imam (MGB) added, “‘When the Event inevitable cometh to pass ,’ i.e. the Hereafter comes, ‘Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming’ ‘(Many) will it bring low;’ that is God will throw the enemies of God into the Fire, and ‘(many) will it exalt;’ that is God will lead the friends of God into Paradise.”Then the Imam (MGB) turned towards some of the men present and told them, “Fear God, make brief requests and do not ask for what is not created, since whoever asks for what is not created would suffer from grief and not get what he had asked for.”Then the Imam (MGB) asked, “How could one obtain what has not been created?”The man asked, “How could one ask for what has not been created?”Then the Imam (MGB) said, “By asking for wealth, property and increasing sustenance in order to attain comfort, while comfort is not created in this world and is not for the people of this world. Comfort is created in Paradise and it is for the people of Paradise. Suffering and grief have been created in this world and (they are created) for the people of this world. No one is given anything unless he has some greed for it. Whoever has more belongings in this world is more needy, since he needs the people to protect his wealth. Therefore, all the belongings in this world increase one’s needs. Thus, there is no comfort in this world. However, Satan whispers to the Children of Adam that comfort lies in collecting wealth. Thus, they are led to toil in this world and the consequent Reckoning in the Hereafter.”Then the Imam (MGB) said, “In this world the Friends of God would never overexert themselves for this world. Rather, in this world they shall strive for the Hereafter.”Then the Imam (MGB) added, “A sin will be recorded for whoever gets worried about his daily sustenance in this world. Jesus the Messiah (MGB) told his disciples, ‘This world is a bridge. Pass over it but do not build on it.’”
IsnādMon père m'a informé en disant: Saad ibn Abdullah nous a informé, de Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad Al-Isbahani, de Sulayman ibn Dawud Al-Minqari, de Sufyan ibn Uyaynah, de Az-Zuhri qui a dit: J'ai entendu Ali ibn Al-Hussein, que la paix soit sur eux, dire: "Celui qui ne se console pas avec le réconfort d'Allah, son âme sera déchirée par les regrets de ce monde. Par Allah, ce monde et l'au-delà ne sont que comme les plateaux d'une balance, et lequel des deux penche emporte l'autre." Puis il récita le verset d'Allah: "Quand surviendra l'Événement" signifiant la Résurrection, "il n'y aura rien de mensonge dans son avènement, abaissant certains et élevant d'autres." Il abaissa les ennemis d'Allah vers le Feu et éleva les alliés d'Allah vers le Paradis. Ensuite, il se tourna vers un homme parmi ses compagnons et lui dit: "Crains Allah, sois diligent dans ta quête et ne recherche pas ce qui n'a pas été créé. Car celui qui recherche ce qui n'a pas été créé, son âme sera déchirée par les regrets et il n'obtiendra pas ce qu'il recherche." Puis il dit: "Comment pourrait-il obtenir ce qui n'a pas été créé?" L'homme demanda: "Comment rechercher ce qui n'a pas été créé?" Il répondit: "Celui qui recherche la richesse, les biens et l'abondance dans ce monde, ne le recherche que pour le confort, et le confort n'a pas été créé dans ce monde ni pour les habitants de ce monde. Le confort a été créé au Paradis pour ses habitants. La fatigue et les soucis ont été créés dans ce monde pour ses habitants, et personne n'a reçu une poignée de ces choses sans que la cupidité ne lui en donne le double. Et celui qui obtient le plus de ce monde est le plus pauvre en lui, car il dépend des gens pour protéger ses biens et dépend de chaque instrument de ce monde. Il n'y a pas de confort dans la richesse de ce monde, mais le Diable insuffle à l'homme qu'en accumulant cette richesse, il trouvera le confort, alors qu'il le pousse en réalité vers la fatigue dans ce monde et le jugement dans l'au-delà." Puis il dit: "Non, les alliés d'Allah ne se fatiguent pas dans ce monde pour ce monde, mais ils se fatiguent dans ce monde pour l'au-delà." Ensuite, il dit: "Certes, celui qui se préoccupe de sa subsistance se voit attribuer un péché. C'est ainsi que Jésus a dit à ses disciples: 'Ce monde n'est qu'un pont, traversez-le et ne le construisez pas.'"
