5-15 Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ahmad ibn al-Walid - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al-Saffar quoted Al-Abbas ibn Ma’ruf, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Sahl al-Bahrani who linked it up through a chain of narrators to Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), “There are five who cried: Adam (MGB); Jacob (MGB); Joseph (MGB); Fatimah - the daughter of Muhammad (MGB); and Ali ibn al-Hussein as-Sajjad (MGB).” Adam (MGB) cried over Paradise so much that his tears flowed like a creek on his face.Jacob (MGB) cried for Joseph (MGB) so much that he became blind and he was told, ‘By Allah. (never) wilt thou cease to remember Joseph until thou reach the last extremity of illness, or until thou die!’And Joseph (MGB) cried for Jacob (MGB) so much in the prison that the other prisoners asked him to either cry in the daytime or at night. He (MGB) accepted and only cried once every twenty-four hours.And Fatimah (MGB) cried over God’s Prophet (MGB) so much that the residents of Medina got upset and told her that her crying is bothering them. Then she left the town every day and went to the graveyards of the martyrs, where she cried and then she returned. Ali ibn al-Hussein as-Sajjad (MGB) cried over Al-Hussein (MGB) for twenty of forty years. He (MGB) cried whenever he wanted to eat or drink until his servant told him, “O (grand)son of God’s Prophet! May I be your ransom! I fear that you may perish!’ As-Sajjad replied, ‘I shall take my sorrow and complaint to God. I know what you do not know. Whenever I remember the martyrdom of the children of Fatimah (MGB) I cry.’
IsnādNous a informé Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ahmad ibn al-Walid (qu'Allah soit satisfait de lui) qui a dit: Nous a informé Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al-Saffar qui a dit: Nous a informé Al-Abbas ibn Ma'ruf, de la part de Muhammad ibn Sahl al-Bahrayni, qui rapporte de Abi Abdillah (sur lui la paix) qu'il a dit:
Les pleureurs sont cinq: Adam, Ya'qub, Yusuf, Fatima bint Muhammad, et Ali ibn al-Hussein (sur eux la paix). Quant à Adam, il pleura pour le Paradis jusqu'à ce que ses joues soient marquées de sillons. Quant à Ya'qub, il pleura pour Yusuf jusqu'à ce qu'il perde la vue, et on lui dit: "Par Allah, tu te consumes à te rappeler Yusuf jusqu'à devenir aveugle ou périr." Quant à Yusuf, il pleura pour Ya'qub jusqu'à ce que les prisonniers en soient affectés, et lui dirent: Soit tu pleures la nuit et te tais le jour, soit tu pleures le jour et te tais la nuit, alors il s'accorda à l'un d'eux. Quant à Fatima, elle pleura pour le Messager d'Allah (sur lui la paix) jusqu'à ce que les habitants de Médine se plaignent d'elle, lui disant: Tu nous as beaucoup ennuyés par tes pleurs. Elle sortait alors aux tombes des martyrs pour pleurer jusqu'à satisfaire son besoin puis elle s'en allait. Quant à Ali ibn al-Hussein, il pleura pour al-Hussein (sur lui la paix) pendant vingt ou quarante ans, sans qu'un plat de nourriture ne soit placé devant lui sans qu'il ne pleure. Un de ses serviteurs lui dit: Par ta vie ô fils du Messager d'Allah, je crains pour toi de périr. Il répondit: "Je ne fais que me plaindre de ma tristesse et de ma douleur à Allah, et je sais de la part d'Allah ce que vous ne savez pas. Je ne me rappelle pas la mort des enfants de Fatima sans que cela ne m'étrangle de chagrin, c'est une leçon pour moi."
