1. Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ḥimyari narrated to me from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Muḥammad ibn Sālim, from Muḥammad ibn Khālid, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ḥammād Al-Basri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn ‘Abdil Raḥmān Al-Asam, from Muḥammad Al-Basri, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: I heard my father (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) ask one of his servants, who had asked him about the Ziyārah (of Ḥusain (a.s.)), “To whose Ziyārah are you going and whom do you seek (to please) by going to this Ziyārah?” He (the servant) replied, “Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted.” My father (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Those who establish one Salāt behind the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) seeking (nearness with) Allāh will meet Him on the Day of Judgment shining so brightly that the light (which emanates from them) will cover everything that looks at them. Allāh will honour those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) and He will prevent the Fire from touching them. They will not be prevented from coming to the Pool and no one will precede them. The Commander of the Believers (a.s.) will be standing by the Pool and he will shake their hands and quench their thirst with the water. Then they will go to their dwellings in Paradise accompanied by an angel appointed by the Commander of the Believers (a.s.). This angel will order SIRĀŤ to humble itself before them and will order Hell not to touch them with its blazing fires. Therefore, they will pass Sirāť accompanied by the angel which had been sent by the Commander of the Believers (a.s.).
2. Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ḥimyari narrated to from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Muḥammad ibn Sālim, from Muḥammad ibn Khālid, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ḥammād Al-Basri, from (‘Abdillāh ibn ‘Abdil Raḥmān) Al-Asam, from Hishām ibn Sālim, who said: A man came to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) and asked, “O son of the Messenger of Allāh! Should one go to the Ziyārah of your father (Ḥusain (a.s.))?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Yes and establish prayers next to his grave. But one should not establish prayers in front of the grave, but rather, one should stand behind it when establishing prayers.” The man asked, “What is the reward for those who go to his Ziyārah?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Paradise, (but only) if they believe in his Imamate.” The man asked, “What about those who neglect his Ziyārah intentionally?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “(They will) regret (it) on the Day of Regret.” The man asked, “What about those who stay (a few days) by his grave?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Every day will be equal to one thousand months (of worship).” The man asked, “What about those who spend money while traveling to his Ziyārah and who give charity near his grave?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Every Dirham is equal to one thousand Dirhams.” The man asked, “What about those who die on their way to him?” Imam (a.s.) replied: The angels will bring embalmment and shrouds for them from Paradise and accompany them in their funerals. After they are shrouded (by the people), the angels will establish prayers on them and shroud them (again with another shroud) over their (existing) shrouds. Then they will spread flowers under their bodies (in their graves) and will push the walls of their graves three miles from every direction. Then a door from the doors of Paradise will be opened to their graves and its soothing fragrance will fill their graves until the rising of the Hour. The man asked, “What about those who establish prayers next to him?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Those who establish two Rak’ah of prayers next to him will not ask anything from Allāh, the Exalted, without Allāh granting it.” The man asked, “What about those who perform Ghusl with the water of the Euphrates (River) and then go to him?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “If they perform Ghusl with the water of the Euphrates (River) with the intention of going to him, their sins will fall off of them (and they will become sinless) like the day their mothers gave birth to them.” The man asked, “What about those who make arrangements for others to go but they do not go themselves because of fear of affliction?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Allāh will recompense them for every Dirham that they have spent (making the arrangement for others) with rewards as great as the mountain of Uḥud and will sustain them with multiple amounts. Furthermore, the afflictions which had been destined for them will be pushed away and their wealth will be protected.” The man asked, “What about those who are killed next to Ḥusain (a.s.) – those who are captured by a dominating power and killed?” Imam (a.s.) replied: All of their sins will be forgiven with the first drop of their blood which is spilled. Then the angels will cleanse the clay from which they were created. The impurities which were mixed with their clay – (originally) from the material used in the clay of the disbelievers – will be removed from their clay until it becomes as pure as the clay of the devoted prophets. Then their heart will be cleansed and their chest will be expanded and filled with faith. Therefore, they will meet Allāh while they are pure from every impurity which might be mixed with the heart or the body. They will be granted the power of intercession for their family members and for one thousand of their brothers (in faith). Jabra`īl and the Angel of Death, along with (the rest of) the angels, will undertake establishing the prayers on them. Furthermore, their shroud and embalmment will be brought for them from Paradise. Their graves will also be expanded. Lamps will be placed in them and a door will be opened from Paradise to their graves, after which the angels will bring exquisite gifts from Paradise to them. Eighteen days later, they will be moved to the Sacred Sanctuary and they will stay there in the company of Allāh’s Divine Authorities until the trumpet, which will leave nothing alive, is sounded. When the trumpet is sounded for the second time and they are resurrected from their graves, the first among those who will shake hands with them will be the Messenger of Allāh, the Commander of the Believers, and the successors (a.s.). They will give glad tidings to them and tell them to hold on to them and to follow them to the Pool where they will be allowed to drink and give water to whomever they wish. The man asked, “What about those who are imprisoned during the Ziyārah?” Imam (a.s.) replied: They will receive one kind of pleasure for every day they were grieved and imprisoned until the Day of Judgment. And if they were also beaten while they were imprisoned in their Ziyārah, they will be rewarded with one houri for every time they were beaten. Every time they feel pain in their bodies, one million good deeds will be added to their deeds and one million bad deeds will be removed from their deeds and one million ranks will be added to their status. (On the Day of Judgment), they will be speaking with the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) while (others are) going through the judgment process. The carriers of the Throne will shake hands with them and they will be told to ask (Allāh) for whatever they wish. Those who had beaten them when they were imprisoned will be brought forth for judgment. However, they will not be questioned about anything. Rather, they will be held by their two upper arms and taken to an angel who will give them a drink from Ḥamīm and a drink from Ghislīn, after which they will be placed over frying pans in Hell and told, “Taste that which your hands brought forth by beating this man who was the guest of Allāh and the guest of His Messenger (s.a.a.w.).” And then those who were beaten will be brought to the door of Hell and will be told, “Look at those who beat you and look at what is happening to them. Are you satisfied with how you are avenged?” So those who were beaten will say, “Praise be to Allāh who achieved victory for us and for the son of His Messenger (s.a.a.w.).”
3. Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ḥimyari narrated to me from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Muḥammad ibn Sālim, from Muḥammad ibn Khālid, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ḥammād Al-Basri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn ‘Abdil Raḥmān Al-Asam, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Bukayr, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: O son of Bukayr! Verily Allāh has chosen six places on earth: Bayt Al-Ḥarām (Ka’bah), Ḥaram (Masjid Al-Ḥarām), the graves of the prophets, the graves of the successors, the places of the martyrdom of the Martyrs, and the mosques in which the name of Allāh is remembered. O son of Bukayr! Do you know the reward for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Abī ‘Abdillāh, Al-Ḥusain (a.s.), although the ignorant neglect it?! Every morning, an angel calls out next to the grave of Ḥusain, “O those who seek blessings! Come to Allāh’s chosen one (Ḥusain (a.s.)) so that you may return with honour and are protected from regret!” This call is heard by all of the inhabitants of the east and the west, except by mankind and Jinn. (Upon hearing this call), all of the angels on earth go to the Zuwwār of Ḥusain (a.s.) while they are asleep, sanctify Allāh close to them, and ask Allāh to be pleased with them (the Zuwwār). All of the angels in the air, who hear this call, respond to it by glorifying Allāh, the Exalted. The voices of the angels are raised and the inhabitants of the first sky respond to their voices (by glorifying Allāh). The voices of the angels and the inhabitants of the first sky are loud enough for the inhabitants of the seventh sky and for the prophets to hear, who then (in turn ask Allāh to) send mercy and blessings on Ḥusain (a.s.) and pray for those who go to his Ziyārah.
