He said: Then he began to strike whilst I was saying (the recitation) letter by letter, until I reached his saying: « except if we were to die». Then he said: By your Prophet, who informed you of this? I said: It was said by the man who was with me yesterday. He said: And is there any kinship between him and between your Prophet? He said: He is the son of his paternal uncle. He said: By your Prophet, did he hear this from you Prophet? He said: I said: Yes. Then he accepted Islam. Then he said to me: By Allah, indeed, I have found in the Torah that there will be among the last of the Prophets, a Prophet who will interpret what the bell says.

Alors que j'étais en compagnie de l'émir des croyants Ali ibn Abi Talib, qu'Allah soit satisfait de lui, à al-Hira, nous avons entendu les cloches sonner. Ce monde nous a trompés, nous a occupés, nous a séduits et nous a égarés. Ô fils de ce monde, ralentis, ralentis, ô fils de ce monde, sonne, sonne, ô fils de ce monde, rassemble, rassemble. Je suis ensuite allé vers les cloches et j'ai dit : 'Par le droit de Jésus sur toi, pourquoi sonnes-tu du côté que tu sonnes ?' Il a commencé à sonner et je récitais chaque mot jusqu'à 'sauf si elle nous est présentée.' Alors il a dit : 'Par le droit de votre Prophète qui vous a informé de cela.' J'ai dit : 'L'homme qui était avec moi hier l'a dit.' Il a demandé : 'Y a-t-il un lien de parenté entre lui et le Prophète ?' J'ai répondu : 'Il est son cousin.' Il a dit : 'Par le droit de votre Prophète, a-t-il entendu cela de votre Prophète ?' J'ai dit : 'Oui.' Alors il s'est converti et m'a dit : 'Par Allah, j'ai trouvé dans la Torah qu'à la fin des prophètes il y aura un prophète qui interprétera ce que disent les cloches.'
