Prayer About Menses

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Muhammad ibn Isma‘il from af-Fadf ibn Shadhan from Safwan ibn Yahya and ibn abu ‘Umayr from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ’When a woman experiences menses at a time when she is about to commence the acts of her al-Hajj, she should take a shower and use al-kursuf, stand up with women behind her who should say ‘Amen’ for her prayers. She should say, ‘O Allah, I appeal before You through every name that is Your name or with which You have named Yourself for any of Your creatures or have kept in Your hidden knowledge before You. I appeal before You through the greatest of Your great names and through every word that You revealed to Moses, through every word that You revealed to Jesus and through every word that You revealed to Muhammad, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, cleanse me of this blood.’ If she wants to enter Masjid al-Haram (the Sacred Masjid) or the Masjid of the Holy Prophet, she should do the same thing. He (the Imam) said, ‘She should go to station of Jibril (Gabriel) which is under al-Mizab. This is his place wherefrom he would ask permission from the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘This is the place where she should pray to Allah, facing the direction of Ka‘bah and say the prayer about menses. She will be cleansed, by the will of Allah.’”

Quand une femme commence ses rituels alors qu'elle est en période de menstruation, qu'elle se lave, se parfume avec du musc, se tienne debout avec d'autres femmes derrière elle pour prier pour sa sécurité, et dise : "Ô Allah, je Te demande par chaque nom qui T'appartient ou que Tu as attribué à l'un de Tes créatures, ou que Tu as gardé caché dans Ta connaissance de l'invisible, je Te demande par Ton plus grand et majestueux nom, et par chaque lettre que Tu as révélée à Moïse, à Jésus, et à Muhammad (que la paix soit sur lui et sur sa famille), que Tu éloignes ce sang de moi." Et si elle veut entrer dans la Mosquée Sacrée ou la Mosquée du Prophète (que la paix soit sur lui et sur sa famille), qu'elle fasse de même. Elle doit se tenir à l'endroit où l'Ange Gabriel (que la paix soit sur lui) se tenait sous le Mizaab, car c'était sa place lorsqu'il demandait la permission d'entrer chez le Prophète d'Allah (que la paix soit sur lui). C'est un endroit où une femme en période de menstruation ne devrait pas prier en direction de la Qibla et faire des invocations liées au sang, à moins qu'elle ne voie la pureté, si Allah le veut.
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from those whom he has mentioned from ibn Bukayr from ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the following: “My partner experienced menses in al-Madinah when it was the time for our transporters to come and leave, when she had not been able to go close to the Masjid, the grave or pulpit of the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. I mentioned it to abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, and he said, ‘Ask her to take a shower and go to Maqam (station) of Jibril. Jibril from that place would ask permission from the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, for a meeting. In case meeting was not convenient, he would remain there until he came out, to give him permission.’ I then asked, ‘Where is that place?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is under al-Mizab. When you come to the door called door of Fatimah next to the grave and upon raising your head, you see al- Mizab right above your head and the door is behind you. She should sit at that place and women behind her. She should pray to her Lord and women behind her should say ‘Amen’ to her prayers.’ I (the narrator) asked, ‘What should she then say?’ He (the Imam) replied that she should say, ‘O Allah, I appeal before You and You are Allah. Nothing is like You, so You do for me so and so things.’ My partner followed the instruction and she became clean. Thereafter she visited the Masjid.’ He has said that our housemaid had a similar case and asked me if she could also do what my partner had done. I said, ‘Yes, she also can do so. She also followed the instruction and it was successful.’”

J'ai mentionné cela à Abu Abdullah (sur lui soit la paix), et il a dit : 'Ordonne-lui de faire son bain rituel et de se rendre à l'endroit où Gabriel (sur lui soit la paix) se tenait. Car Gabriel venait demander la permission d'entrer chez le Messager d'Allah (que la prière et la paix d'Allah soient sur lui), même s'il était dans une situation où il n'était pas approprié de lui donner la permission. Il se tenait à sa place jusqu'à ce qu'il soit invité à entrer. S'il lui était permis d'entrer, il entrait, sinon il retournait. J'ai demandé : 'Où est cet endroit ?' Il a répondu : 'Près de la porte appelée la porte de Fatima, avec les chaussures du tombeau. Lorsque tu soulèves ta tête avec les chaussures du tombeau, le seuil est au-dessus de ta tête, et la porte est derrière toi. Tu t'assois à cet endroit, et des femmes s'assoient avec toi. Prie ton Seigneur et aie confiance en Sa réponse.' J'ai demandé : 'Que dois-je dire ?' Il a répondu : 'Dis : 'Ô Allah, je Te demande, car Tu es Allah, rien n'est semblable à Toi, de me faire tel et tel.' Elle a fait ce qu'il m'a ordonné, a fait son bain rituel et est entrée à la mosquée. Nous avions aussi une servante qui a eu ses menstruations. Elle a dit : 'Maître, ne devrais-je pas partir en voyage ?' Je lui ai dit oui. Elle est partie et a fait comme ma femme avait fait. Elle a fait son bain rituel et est entrée à la mosquée."
3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Safmah ibn af-Khattab from Ali ibn al-Hassan from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muskan from Bakr ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Azdiy Sharik abu Hamzah al-Thumaliy who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, a Muslim woman accompanied me until we reached the gardens of banu ‘Amir, where she began to experience menses. She felt a great concern about losing her acts of al-‘Umrah. She asked me to mention it before you for an answer. He (the Imam) said, ‘Ask her to take a shower at noontime, dress in clean clothes, and sit in a clean place with women around her who should say ‘Amen’ for her prayers. She should keep doing so when the sun declines toward the west. She then say the following prayer and women behind should say ‘Amen’, £ 0 Allah, I appeal before You through every name that is Your name or with which You have named Yourself for any of Your creatures, or have treasured or kept high in Your hidden knowledge before You. I appeal before You through the greatest of Your great names, whereby if You are asked You deem it necessary to answer, please cleanse me of this blood.’ If it did not stop, she should say this prayer. £ 0 Allah, I appeal before You through every word that You revealed to Muhammad, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. (I appeal before You) through every word that You revealed to Moses, through every word that You revealed to Jesus and through every word that You revealed in any of Your books, through every prayer with which any of Your angels have prayed before You to cleanse me of this blood.’ If it did not stop, she should do the same thing the next day at the same time. She should take a shower when the sun declines to the west, from a point verhead, say salat (prayer) and women should say ‘Amen’ for her prayer.’ That woman followed the instruction and she became clean. She performed all acts of al- £ Umrah and al-Hajj in clean condition and returned. As soon as we reached the gardens of banu ‘Amir, she experienced menses again. I then asked him (the Imam), ‘Can I say this prayers after my salat (prayer). He (the Imam) replied, ‘You can say the first prayer if you like but do not say the second unless it is a desperate condition.’”

Elle a alors eu un problème sérieux et a craint de perdre sa pureté. Elle m'a demandé de vous en informer et de vous demander comment agir." Il a répondu : "Dis-lui de faire le ghusl à midi, de porter des vêtements propres, de s'asseoir dans un endroit propre, entourée de femmes croyantes, et de s'engager à prier avant le coucher du soleil. Une fois le soleil couché, elle devra réciter cette invocation, et que les femmes autour d'elle croient en son invocation. Chaque fois qu'elle invoque, elle doit dire : 'Ô Allah, je te demande par chaque nom qui t'appartient, et par chaque nom que tu as attribué à l'un de tes créatures, qui est élevé et caché dans ta connaissance de l'invisible. Je te demande par ton plus grand nom, celui auquel tu réponds lorsqu'on t'implore, de stopper ce sang pour moi. Si le sang s'arrête, sinon, elle doit réciter une deuxième invocation. Dis-lui alors de dire : 'Ô Allah, je te demande par chaque lettre que tu as révélée à Muhammad, à Moïse, à Jésus, et dans un livre parmi tes livres, et par chaque invocation à laquelle un ange de tes anges t'a appelé, de stopper ce sang pour moi. Si le sang s'arrête, elle n'aura rien à craindre ce jour-là. Sinon, elle doit faire le ghusl le lendemain à la même heure qu'hier. Une fois le soleil couché, elle doit prier et invoquer, et que les femmes croient en son invocation. Si elle fait cela, le sang cessera jusqu'à ce qu'elle accomplisse son pèlerinage et rentre chez elle. Quand nous sommes arrivés au jardin des Banu Amir, le sang a recommencé à couler. Je lui ai dit d'invoquer avec ces deux invocations après ma prière. Il a dit : 'Invoque avec la première si tu veux, mais ne l'invoque pas avec la seconde, sauf dans une affaire terrible qui t'atteindra.'
