1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ali b. Ahmad al-Wasiti from his uncle Abdulrahman b. Katheer al-Hashimi, the slave of Muhammad b. Ali, from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: "Amir al-Mu'minin (AS) was sitting one day with Ibn al-Hanafiyyah, and he said, "O Muhammad, bring me a vessel with water in it, so I can perform ablution for prayer." Muhammad brought the water, and he (Amir al-Mu'minin) washed his right hand with his left hand, then he said, "In the name of Allah, praise be to Allah who has made water pure and not impure." He then performed istinja (cleaning the private parts) and said, "O Allah, protect my private parts, forgive me, cover my shame (nakedness), and prohibit the Hellfire from me." Afterward, he rinsed his mouth and said, "O Allah, grant me the ability to argue my case on the day I meet You and let my tongue speak with Your remembrance." He then sniffed water into his nose and said, "O Allah, do not deprive me of the scent of Paradise and make me among those who enjoy its fragrance, its scent, its aroma, and its perfume." Next, he washed his face and said, "O Allah, whiten my face on the day when faces will turn black, and do not make my face black on the day when faces will turn white." He then washed his right hand and said, "O Allah, grant me my book (of deeds) in my right hand and grant me eternity in the Gardens on my left, and make my reckoning an easy one." Afterward, he washed his left hand and said, "O Allah, do not give my book in my left hand, and do not make it tied to my neck, and I seek refuge in You from the severing of the Fire." He then wiped his head and said, "O Allah, shower me with Your mercy, blessings, and forgiveness." Then, he wiped his feet and said, "O Allah, make me steadfast on the Straight Path on the day when feet will slip, and let my effort please You, O Most Merciful of those who are merciful." Then he raised his head and looked at Muhammad and said, "O Muhammad, whoever performs ablution like my ablution and says like my saying, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, creates an angel from every drop, who sanctifies it, praises it, and magnifies it. Allah, the Exalted, records a reward for that until the Day of Resurrection."
